The Retreat Experience

Bill and Rhonda Peterson were looking for a relaxing five day holiday from the daily work grind, but they wanted something more than what the typical vacation spots offered. Rhonda is a practitioner of positive thought, and had even attended a Beth and Lee Boot Camp and it was there she learned of the Positive Thought Retreat. That, coupled with the advertising campaign she noticed in a recent issue of Sunset Magazine, inspired her to suggest a week at the Retreat to her husband. It seemed OK to him, and the price was right, and now they were landing at Portland International Airport about to start their relaxing week.

Waiting for the Petersen's (and three other couples) are two Retreat staff members ― Sally and Brandon ― who help with the luggage and guide the guests to a luxury van awaiting them curbside.

Inside the van is Jeff, the driver. Soon the van has left the airport and is on the two hour drive to the Coast Range Valley just over Mary's Peak. An assortment of beverages and light snacks is made available during the pleasant journey.

During the trip, calm and relaxing music fills the van as the beautiful Oregon countryside passes by. The van soon arrives in the Valley and pulls onto the Retreat Property where it parks in the courtyard adjacent to the residential cottages. There are two more staff members on hand to aid in the check-in process, along with Beth and Lee McCain who are there to personally welcome each guest.

The check-in process is quick and easy as payment for the week's stay has already been processed months or weeks before arrival. Check-in is as simple as staff members leading the guests to the appropriate cottage and handing them the key. Luggage arrives shortly after, carried into the cottages by Retreat staff. Waiting in the room is a welcome basket full of fruits, nuts, candies, etc., as well as a small refrigerator stuffed with soft drinks and bottles water. Coffee and tea are also provided in each room, along with a microwave, shower soaps and toiletries, satellite television, and XM radio. There is also a printed program for the week inviting the guests to attend as few or as many of the events as they choose.

Finally, the menu for the week is positioned on the table adjacent to the small kitchenette. All meals are included in the price of the Retreat.

After some time spent relaxing in the comfortable cottage, it's dinner time. The tasty gourmet quality welcome meal is followed by an orientation hosted by Beth and Lee in the lodge room. And whether permitting, a get together takes place at the fire ring where everyone spends a little time getting to know one another with music, laughter, all under a field of a thousand stars. If it should rain or be unseasonably cold, the fun is moved into the lodge!

Life at the Retreat can best be compared to what one finds at a European spa with the addition of entertaining programs in an atmosphere of positive thought.

Each cottage has its own enclosed porch to sit and relax on. There are daily complimentary baskets of fruits and nuts along with water and juices for their convenience. This particular cottage is for a couple but others have room for families. Babysitting is provided at the retreat for anyone with children.

The grounds are nestled upon 26 acres of gardens, gazebos, beautiful meeting rooms, a state of the art restaurant as well as ponds, waterfalls, and meditation rooms. There is even a gift shop with a wide array of positive-minded gifts along with comfortable clothing and treats for the guests' convenience.

The meditation groups are incredible providing the perfect place for quiet and solitary moments as well as the laugh groups that provide a lot of humorous fun. Guests are also invited to attend the programs at the music and entertainment center where different bands share their song, and live theater and plays are performed by professionals who have the same positive state of mind.

Winter time at the Retreat is especially cozy.

Guests at the Positive Thought Retreat will not only relax and have a wonderful time, they will feel as if they are experiencing Heaven on Earth; a place to go for rejuvenation and truly enjoy what a positive world feels like. It is like drinking the elixir of life and they will surely wish to come back again and again to this little slice of heaven.

Every day throughout the week there is an assortment of . . .

• Guest Speakers
• Elegant Picnics
• Music Programs and Concerts
• Excellent Dining!
• Spa Treatments, Reflexology, Massage, etc.
• Card Readings (Angel, Renaissance, etc.)
• Alone time . . .
• Hikes and walks
• At least one trip to the coast
• Private time scheduled with Beth and Lee McCain
• Attending and participating in the taping of a Beth and Lee program (Radio or Video).

And these are just some of the many entertainments and events that will be offered on an ongoing basis to all of our valued guests! The only limits are our own imaginations!

FINALLY . . . The night before departure we throw a going away party and farewell dinner, and say our goodbyes. In the morning, the transport staff accompanies our guests back to the airport. The staff then collects our next group of guests who arrive at the airport and the week starts over again!
